We recommend the 6 and 8-pin stackable headers. Finally, the Sound Detector has been added to the sensors category in the Sparkfun Fritzing Library. This shield comes populated with all components as shown in the images and schematic but it does not come with headers installed. After the stream has been decoded by the IC, the audio is sent out to both a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, as well as a 2-pin 0.1" pitch header.

The VS1053 receives its input bitstream through a serial input bus (SPI). The VS1053 is also capable of decoding Ogg Vorbis/MP3/AAC/WMA/MIDI audio and encoding IMA ADPCM and user-loadable Ogg Vorbis. Now you can pull MP3 files from an microSD card and play them using only one shield, effectively turning any Arduino into a fully functional stand-alone MP3 player! The MP3 Shield still utilizes the VS1053B MP3 audio decoder IC to decode audio files.

Please also note that we guarantee that there are some messed up. First step, download the free program Fritzing here: Second step, download SparkFun components for Fritzing from github: Download the whole zip file and extract it here on Linux Mint 17. If you enjoy using this library, please buy one of our products at SparkFun. Weve spent an enormous amount of time creating and checking these footprints and parts. This new revision of the MP3 player shield retains the awesome MP3 decoding abilities of the last version but adds the storage functionality of the SD card shield. SparkFun Electronics preferred foot prints using Eagle v6.0 or greater. Just I think it would be even greater in that way.DEV-10628 OSHW In Fritzing Library - MP3 Player Shield

Anyway, you guys are doing a very good work and it is your iniciative. I know that it is more complex, double work, but I see here a educational place, and we are talking about open hardware all the time, that's why. SparkFuns fritzing library at github doesnt seem to have it (or. If fritzing it's an option, or any other open software, it is ok, I talk about KiCad because it is what we work with. SparkFun Electronics / Niwot, Colorado / Customer Service / Site Map / Terms of. you can convert egle librarys to kicad easily, but at least you know about other files. If at least provides the library files for a open source alternative (not necessarily kicad).

But I don't understand why Sparkfun (the place where I see open hardware turns reality) don't work with open software tools. So, I understand why everybody uses Eagle, althought (IMHO) there is an open source project quite competitive avaliable. I think that you usually start with something which you know that you have avaliable and fast support and it is popular, you have seen it, etc. Fritzing 0.9.9 released SeptemFritzing 0.9.8 released AugPCBs at half the price MaNew Fritzing release 0.9.6 FebruFritzing maintenance release 0.9.

I only find Eagle's files here at Sparkfun. SparkFun Fritzing repo - Fritzing diagrams for SparkFun products. I don't like Eagle, just because everyone around me uses KiCad and I'm not used to it (to be honest I've never needed to give it a chance). I use KiCad in the university and it's quite complete. The library should import automatically, and youll see as it populates the parts palette on the right-hand side with all the new Adafruit parts.
